This is certainly a massive blow for me personally since this is basically the only grocery store in my area.
News is coming in that Winn-Dixie, a grocery store chain located in a couple of states in the southeast, is now hardcoded against taking credit card for open-loop gift cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.). I have reports from multiple stores in Louisiana, and I personally tested it in Florida. The terminals only allow you to use a credit card on the fee portion, leaving the balance needing to be paid with cash or debit.
This has been tested with Visa and MasterCard gift cards so far. It’s possible that it might not affect all designs, but it’s definitely not looking good right now.
